Kelim Gashgai Rug

The Gashgai are Turkish-speaking nomadic tribes who live in the region around Shiraz in southwestern Iran. Kilims are flat-woven wool rugs that can be used on both sides and feature a distinctive slit weave. This technique creates small gaps where colors change in the weft threads.

These rugs often display classic Gashgai motifs such as diamonds, squares, stripes, and Caucasian star patterns. Typical colors include blue, yellow, red, green, and beige.
