Tony Chi founded his studio,Tony Chi & Associates, in NY back in 1984.
He has started with interior design for restaurants, and later he expanded his work to hotel designs.

He has strong focus on the essence of the hospitality space – how the interior design influence people behavior and emotion, and what guests essentially seeking for in that space.
And his work is highly considered in the heritage, hospitality, artistry, culture, innovation, and origins.

His concept, “invisible design”, is to create design experience that is perceived rather than seen. The purpose of interior design is not “visual”, which is just a means.

And he says “design” is also a means of hospitality :
“Hospitality and courtesy are not simply the end results of our work. They are extensions of our beings and lives.”
